Video Clips

Here are a few samples of my work in video form.
The audio for these clips was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Phil Harris.

In 2016, I recorded & mixed numerous sessions for the CMA Awards 50th Anniversary Video Series. My absolute favorite thing we did was “Behind Closed Doors” by the amazing Steve Wariner. Here he is solo fingerpicking a gut string and creating the best guitar tone I may have ever recorded. That’s a pair of vintage Neumann KM84′s and 1959 RCA 44, into Grace preamps. 3 mics = Perfection.

From the same CMA series, here is the wonderful Lee Ann Womack with Ethan Ballinger & Luke Bulla and my favorite vintage mics. She’s just the best.

Here is another from the same series, featuring Ricky Skaggs solo, using the Vintage RCA 44.

Another from the CMA 50th Anniversary Cover Series featuring the lovely and talented Deanna Carter

In 2016, I went to CBS Studios in NYC with Brett Dennen to do the audio for the CBS Morning Show.  I got to tour the sets of the Nightly News & Sunday Morning, which is my favorite show. This song Cassidy was the best song from Brett’s last record, it always made me think of my dog, Cassidy. She was the best.

The first time I met Brett was in Mexico at this recording session, tour rehearsal, and video shoot for the El Ganzo Sessions near Cabo San Lucas. Good times indeed. This song reminds me of that week.

In 2010, I did series of Dobro Performance & Instruction videos for Dobro-Master Mike Witcher. We did these at my studio in Nashville, that formerly belonged to Victor Wooten. That’s the Banjo Wizard Ryan Cavanaugh playing Salt Creek with Mike.

In 2014, I had the honor of recording an album for the great Willy Tea Taylor at my studio with a band of incredible Nashville musicians. Here’s a promo video for the album, which turned out amazing. I’m very proud of this project.

In 2009, I produced and engineered a full length album for Pokey LaFarge, called Riverboat Soul. We recorded the entire album live at my studio. It was his breakout record. It won many awards, including Americana Album of the Year at the Indepenedent Music Awards.

Here are the two official singles/videos produced for the album.
Pokey LaFarge – La La Blues (2010)

Pokey LaFarge – Hard Times Come & Go

in 2011, I produced and engineered a full length album for Julie Lee & The Baby Daddies. The project featured an all star cast including Alison Krauss, Tim O’Brien, Odessa, Kenny Vaughan, Mike Bub, Jon Radford, Ron Block, Mike Witcher, Jason Goforth, Sarah Siskind, Elizabeth Foster…
Here is the Promo Video for the Album

From 2008-2010, I was the very first Chief Engineer & Production Manager for Bluegrass Underground. My job was to record & mix the performances both live, and later for use on the legend, WSM-650AM. Here are a few clips from the very first concert we put on in the cave, 333 feet underground. It doesn’t get any better than Chris Stapleton & The Steeldrivers. Both have since parted ways and both gone on to their own great successes since. This is pure acoustic music in cave. Dig in.
The Steeldrivers – Midnight Train To Memphis (with Chris Stapleton)

The Steeldrivers – Angel Of The Night (with Chris Stapleton)

Here is another Bluegrass Underground clip from 2009 featuring Cadillac Sky. I’ve always loved how this turned out. I used the ambient mics in the cave to pick up the band from a distance to create a larger sense of space. It eventually aired on AM-Radio, so much for that….but here it is in stereo as I originally intended with my mix.  Cadillac Sky – Sinners Welcome
